Favorite Green Smoothie is creamy and dreamy. A glass full of this will pack nutrients, vitamins, and minerals into your diet.
Cucumber: Consisting of over 95% water, cucumbers help your body stay hydrated. They are full of vitamins such as Vitamins B, C, and K and minerals such as magnesium and potassium. I prefer English cucumbers over regular cucumbers. They are long and usually wrapped in plastic. The skin is thinner, and the seeds are smaller. If you use a regular cucumber, be sure to remove the seeds to avoid a bitter flavor.
Avocado: Amazingly high in nutrients, fiber, vitamins and minerals, avocado tops the charts as a superfood. The healthy monounsaturated fats in the avocado will fill you up so you won’t crave empty calories.
Spinach or other greens: You can use almost any greens in here that you like. Costco sells a bag of greens that I like called Power Greens which includes a blend of kale, spinach, and chard. You can throw the entire bag into the freezer to use in smoothies, if desired. Whatever greens you use, do NOT use mustard greens unless you are going for a hot, peppery, shockingly awful taste. I made this mistake once, and it was the only time I’ve dumped an entire smoothie down the drain.
Layer your ingredients in the blender so the juiciest ingredients are at the bottom (grapes and cucumber). Next add your creamy avocado, frozen fruit and leafy greens. Top with a squeeze of lime juice, drizzle of honey and ice. Blend until smooth. Start your day off right with Favorite Green Smoothie for breakfast or enjoy it as a refreshing beverage anytime of the day.
Twin Foodie Review: This is the best smoothie I’ve ever made, hands down. It is also the favorite of all of my kids. If they’d read the ingredient list before I made it, they wouldn’t have agreed this would be possible. As it is, the only disagreement is over who gets the biggest glass! The combination of ingredients is magical. The cucumber adds a refreshing taste that is indescribable. You really must try it to believe it.
